Make the Most of Your Stonelux Sample Pots

Testing your samples is an exciting first step in choosing your perfect stone colour and finish.

Your sample pots are designed to give you a true impression of the final result, showing the colour, texture and overall feel once your paint is applied in full.

To help you get the most from them, follow these simple steps before you make your final decision.

1. PAINT ONTO PAPER, CARD OR BOARD

A moveable surface lets you view your colour anywhere.

We recommend applying your samples onto sturdy card, lining paper, or board(A5 size or larger).

Painting onto a portable surface allows you to move it around and see how the colour behaves in different lights and settings before you commit.

If you are testing several colours, label each on the back so you can tell them apart later.

Avoid painting directly onto your project surface at this stage. Using a moveable sample helps you compare finishes side by side and view them from different angles.

2. APPLY THREE COATS

Build up the finish to reveal the full depth of colour and texture.

To see the true character of your chosen finish, it is important to apply three coats.

Each coat builds up the texture and depth that make Stonelux paints unique. Applying fewer coats will not give you a realistic impression of the final result any may result in a patchy finsih.

We recommend shaking or stirring your pot well before use and applying each coat evenly, allowing it to dry fully between applications.

Use the same application method you plan to use for your project, whether brush, roller or spray, so you can see how the finish will look when applied in full.

VIEW IN DIFFERENT LIGHT & LOCATIONS

Assess how the environment affects your colour.

Colours change subtly under different conditions, so it is worth taking the time to view your samples in several places and at various times of day.

Try positioning them in different locations, or on different sides of your property or room. Light, shade and surrounding materials can all influence how your chosen colour appears.

Taking a moment to compare your samples in different settings will help you make a confident decision and avoid surprises once your project is complete.
